Technical Tuesday: Engine Crankcase Pressure

October 13, 2020

One of the rules in nature is to steer clear of anything (dead or alive) with a bloated belly. Engine crankcase pressure can be viewed in the same manner. The higher that pressure, the more likely something bad could happen. In the dead analogy: If you have an engine offline that is showing crankcase pressure, it could be a packing leak that could lead to a fire or explosion. In the living analogy, crankcase pressure is an awesome single point indicator of engine health. It can be very useful in preventative maintenance efforts and troubleshooting. Anytime you see a high crankcase pressure it is increasing the probability of a crankcase event. How much CC pressure is too much? We can help with that! Join us at the Eastern Gas Compression Roundtable, September 14-16, 2021 at the David Lawrence Convention Center in downtown Pittsburgh, PA or contact us for more information.
